my story

This is my favorite picture in the world. I am a freelance hair & makeup artist living and working out of Honolulu, Hawaii.

I began my career working at a makeup counter for Benefit Cosmetics in 2009. This experience gave me my first real exposure to the beauty industry and how this profession combines my love of meeting new people, variety, creativity and art. Having been born into a family of creatives surrounded by the fashion industry, it was the perfect fit. After studying for my esthetician’s license from the Cinta Aveda Institute of San Francisco, I began working with Chanel. While there, I was able to train, take art classes and work under celebrity makeup artists. I have won awards with Wedding Wire, The Knot, Wedding Rule and LUX Magazine and I have worked with local, national and international companies such as Lululemon, Ban.do, Urban Outfitters, the Discovery Channel and People Magazine for Shark Tank Meets Shark Week, Nixon, Paiko Hawaii, XIX Palms, Hermes and Look Good, Feel Better, a beauty program for cancer patients. I am also currently a licensed Esthetician in California and Hawaii.

In 2020, due to Covid 19, I partnered with TikTok to create content and launched a beauty brand called BLASÈ.

In between working, I continued my education and earned an associates degree in liberal arts and bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. I see my education as a reflection of my passion for learning. Some of my favorite classes were costume and special effects makeup at Kryolan SF, bridal makeup at the Cinta Aveda Institute of San Francisco, natural makeup at Makeup Designory New York, airbrushing at Temptu New York and Spray Tanning from celebrity spray tan artist Isabel Alysa. I continue to seek out opportunities in which I can learn and grow as a hair and makeup artist as well as a mother and a person.

My preferred style has been shaped by my combined love of art and my island upbringing. I lean towards natural makeup that enhances beauty but also feels glamorous. My beauty philosophy is simple: Less is more, except when it is not. I do, however, enjoy doing lots of different looks and working closely with photographers and stylists on concept development so that we can achieve the desired creative vision.

Everyone has something beautiful about them. My goal as an artist is to introduce my clients to their own personal beauty, discovering and acknowledging what makes them unique.
